Being caught up in an intense, on-again-off-again relationship with music for 10+ years isn't easy. It can rip you up inside, tear you in one direction, pull you in another, and/or bury you. But there's a time whenone's involvement in music peaks and creating it consumes their every wakingmoment. For Stormy Strong, that time is now.
Stormy's foundation lies in melodic punk rock, where he cut his teeth in a well-known melodic punk band from Santa Cruz, CA called Reliance circa 1996-1998. After countless releases and touring, the group went their separate ways and Stormy found himself neck-deep in the booming Silicon Valley computer industry. He didn't let that stop him from creating what he loved, dabbling in electronic music within his makeshift home studio, where his knack for clean melodies and catchy hooks were unavoidable.
Kingdom Age began in early 2003 after many hours of strenuous production through digital realms. Its' sound is still molding and forming to find the perfect transcription. Some produced genres include: trance, industrial, EBM, break beat, experimental, euro, and completely original works which don't fit in any genre. Hopefully it will someday reach supreme production and invade the mass media. First Appearance: MP3.com 2003 ("tranceforge" and "cognitive rise" both charted high in its' genre)
During the year 2000, Charles Gendron-Carrier (vocals, guitar), Philippe Bourque (keyboards) and Sйbastien Jean-Troestler (former guitar player) gathered to play a prog rock composition in their high school’s varieties show. They were named Mortuus in Species. During the years 2001 and 2002, they began jamming with a new drummer, Jean-David Vien. Jean-David had been in a band that played Primus covers called Overleve. His style and his creativity fell perfectly in Mortuus in Species’ approach. In July 2002, Olivier Boucher, who had played with a punk rock band called Gervais Attack for years, completed the band on the bass guitar. Mortuus In Species became Les Maзons for two short public presentations. The band did its first official show as Leitmotiv on November 14th of the year 2003. The instrumental compositions of the band charmed the public. After a few shows during the year 2004, Leitmotiv decided to stop playing concerts to add some vocals on their compositions. Charles took that responsibility, and on October 15th 2005, Leitmotiv signed a contract with Menzo Productions to record their first album. The band played a first show with vocals in January of 2006. The new songs are melodies were really appreciated by the public. Leitmotiv are presently finishing the recording and mixing of their first album. New songs and a video are also in preparation. The album should be released by January 2007.
I have been an off and on musician for years. Most of my original music was created between 1994 and 1998. During part of that time, I was an artist on the Independent record label “Artistic Records”. Artistic Records was owned by ‘The Club’ at Firestone during the height of the Progressive House and Breaks scene in Orlando, FL.I am currently working on a down groove/ambient project which I will post to be downloaded for free from http://www.myspace.com/thechola. I’d like to try something new with this project, and completely “OPEN SOURCE” it under the Creative Commons license. In addition to producing my own music, I have started exploring the world of Digital DJ’ing. I have been focusing on downtempo genres such as Ambient, Chillout, Lounge, Trip Hop, Acid Jazz, etc. Be sure to check out my monthly podcast for free full length downloads at chola.podomatic.com
a blend of all different styles of hard rock and industrial music... 5 members include lead singer, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, and drummer.... we're all in our early 20's and are currently working our asses of to make it
Project Antichrist was though of in the mind of one person, Lord Proxikal (Lead vocals). It started in the trailor park in Oxford michigan where they through together a bunch of music that made something impressive enough to catch the ears of true death metaller's. So far so good.
Jersey pride! Or not. I used to play bass in a band called "From the Depths." We played metal, had fun, then we all moved away. Since then, I started writing a more wide range of songs. I started writing some blues and some classical contemporary works, though I still enjoy playing rock music. Most of what I do is improvizational.
THE QUESTIONNAIRES "This CD is nothing short of astounding ... [it] sounds like it has half a million quid of studio time behind it and is far and away the best album to come out of our corner of the planet in many years ... think Ricky Lee Jones, Steely Dan, think songwriting of the highest quality, and I mean the highest quality, and you’re getting there ... it never dips, it just goes from one great song to another ... buy this album, just buy this album, it’s staggeringly beautiful ... this is an album that should have international distribution." Charles Holley, Get Rhythm, UK. "A rarity: impeccable craftsmanship and great art" Miguel Sopena, Red Pepper, UK Re-formed in 2002 after a brief burst of life in the late 1980s, The Questionnaires have quickly established themselves as what Radio Freetunes’ Paul Carosi describes as “… one of the best indie bands on the planet”. Back in 80s, the local and national music press considered The Questionnaires to be “… in class of their own” and could not find enough superlatives to describe them, but despite the huge interest shown by major labels they simply disappeared off the face of the earth as pressing commitments forced Steve Hall and Jane Wade their separate ways. When they booked their comeback gig in Newcastle in November 2003 they did not know what to expect, but people do not forget rare quality such as this and they played to a packed house. The following week the music press said “…as if to impress upon us the accessibility of their songs, the band encored with their opening number ‘Forty Years Of Peace’, and I have to say that whole I enjoyed it the first time round I loved it the second time and went home with the refrain running through my head. It was still there the following morning. How memorable do you want it? A truly remarkable and thoroughly enjoyable concert and I can’t recommend this band highly enough.” (Keith Fisher, ‘Holley’s Comet’, UK) Older, wiser, and even better, The Questionnaires, it would appear, are back. Jane Wade Blessed with what is universally acknowledged as one of the best voices in the business, Jane Wade aka Holman has been involved in music and theatre for many years. Freed by punk and feminism to thrash a guitar on stage and sing angry songs shes been at it ever since. Bands include The Posh Monkeys and Jazawaki as guitarist, singer and songwriter. Then a move into theatre, performing and working as musical director at Live Theatre and Northern Stage in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK). One woman shows about Alma Cogan and Lotte Lenya followed, along with a musical specially written for her by Tina Turner’s guitarist Jon Miles. These days radio plays, film, TV, teaching and motherhood have taken centre stage, but making music has always been Janes first love and she returns with a vengeance to reaffirm her roots and passions. Steve Hall An indisputably ‘top-shelf’ former pro guitarist and multi-instumentalist, Steves playing has driven some of the finest bands to come from the North East in the past 25 years. Ex-Animal Hilton Valentines Roxoff in the 1970s, The Short Blues Line and The Resistance in the 1980s, the D7s in the 1990s, and - spanning two decades from 1980 to 2002 and widely acknowledged by all non-carpers as the greatest original RnB/soul bands the North East of England has ever produced - The Eastside Torpedoes. The photo is Steve playing with the Torpedoes at the Knebworth Jazz Festival in 1982, high up on the bill supporting such luminaries as Ray Charles, Freddie Hubbard and Herbie Hancock. All the while he honed his extraordinary technique and songwriting skills.
Guitarist David Barrett has played with Canadian bands, such as Platinum Blonde, Vertigo, and no.9, and recorded for artists such as Mark Holmes, Amanda Marshall, and Esthero. He has also composed music for film soundtracks, and produced spoken word and solo guitar cds. "The Atomsmasher's Noisy Trade" is the first in a series of cds by David Barrett that feature improvised music recorded on the electric guitar using a couple of digital looping devices, as well as several old vintage effects that together create lengthy soundscapes with often very unusual orchestral arrangements. At Noisytrade.com, additional audio mp3, as well as video material, are available. David Barrett is planning to release a second cd of guitar soundscapes and should be on tour with Mark Holmes of Platinum Blonde in the fall of 2004.
This is some of the more folk-based music of Martin Ball, here known as "Down Fern Creek."? The name comes from a song I recorded a few years ago, which I'll probably post on here sooner or later.
For other music by Martin, check out Martin Ball, Orobai, Lucidium, and Natural Roots, all here on download.com.
Mary Lorson was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist in the alt-rock-pop band Madder Rose from 1991-1999. Eventually Mary came up with a kind of music all her own that was different from Madder Rose, so in the late 90's she created the artrock project known as Saint Low.
"That burnished-gold voice -- up there with Margo Timmons and Hope Sandoval -- lends the speia jazz-pop mood a delicious torch-noir ambience, strings soaring and fading, brass and cello creeping around corners. . ." - Uncut
"Dark and enchanting, Lorson's voice lingers in the room like the scent of a candle which has been blown out." - The New Yorker
"One of the finest pop voices you'll ever hear. . ." - Sunday Times of London
