First Trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been Released

The initial trailer for the much-anticipated Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been unveiled. Check it out here:

This newest installment in the beloved franchise picks up after the events of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, which saw Caesar leading his followers to a new sanctuary.

With humans vanquished and living in near-wild conditions, the ape societies flourish in this ever-evolving world.

An official description of the film reveals, “As a new tyrannical ape leader establishes his domain, a young ape embarks on a perilous journey, challenging everything known about the past and making decisions that will shape the future for both apes and humans.” A previous film synopsis reads, “A brand-new chapter in the Apes series, set many years after the conclusion of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes.”

Wes Ball, renowned for the Maze Runner trilogy, takes on the directorial role for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The script is crafted by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison.

Ball, Jaffa, Silver, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Jason Reed are involved in the film’s production, while Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping serve as executive producers.

The initial trailer dropped on Thursday (2 November), providing a glimpse into what the new movie will offer, from the characters to the diverse locations the story will traverse. Before this trailer release, fans had only seen concept art from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Actor Andy Serkis, who previously portrayed the enhanced ape tribe leader, Caesar, is looking forward to enjoying the franchise as a fan for the first time in over a decade. Speaking to CinemaBlend earlier this year, the British actor shared his excitement for the forthcoming science fiction film, mentioning, “I think Wes Ball is going to do an amazing job with this film. I think it’s, from what I’ve heard and what I’ve seen, there’s some amazing conceptual artwork where they’ve chosen to land the story and take off with the next iteration, I think it’s gonna blow people’s minds.”

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to hit cinemas on May 24, 2024.
