    Jeffrey Carlson, the trailblazing actor who portrayed the first transgender character on daytime television, has passed away at the age of 48.

    The news of his death was shared by Adam Feldman of Time Out New York, who took to Twitter to express his heartfelt message.

    “RIP Jeffrey Carlson, 48, exposed-nerve star of Broadway (Billy in The Goat, Marilyn in Taboo) and TV (the groundbreaking trans character Zoe on All My Children),” Feldman wrote. He added, “I first saw him in a Lee Blessing play called Thief River when he was still in Juilliard, and it was clear he was something special.”

    Born in California, Jeffrey began his acting career in the show All My Children in 2006. His portrayal of the British rock star Zarf marked a significant milestone in daytime television as his character, later revealed as transgender woman Zoe, became the first transgender character to grace the screen. Jeffrey’s talent extended beyond the small screen as he also had a remarkable career on stage, starring in numerous productions. His passion for theater was evident, and he even made his Broadway debut prior to his role on All My Children.
