Footage of Jim Carrey forcefully kissing Alicia Silverstone has resurfaced after the legendary actor criticized Will Smith for slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.
The now infamous slap took place at the Oscars awards ceremony on Sunday evening. Rock made an insensitive remark about Pinkett Smith, comparing her to G.I Jane – Jada has been open about her struggles with alopecia and didn’t appreciate being used as the punchline.
The footage which has been shared online, shows a then 35-year-old Carrey walk on stage at the 1997 MTV Movie Awards to accept an award for best comedic performance for The Cable Guy.
Actress Alicia Silverstone announced Carrey as the winner, smiled at the actor as she prepared to hand over the award but her look soon turned to apparent confusion as Carrey grabbed her face with both hands and forcefully kissed her on the lips.
The Clueless actress appeared to attempt to push Carrey away by placing her hand on the actors arm.
The then 19-year-old handed over the award with a furrowed brow, clearly baffled by what had just happened, and stood behind the actor so he could make his acceptance speech.
Many are calling Carrey a hypocrite for criticizing Will Smith’s outburst on stage at the Oscars, with some people writing on Twitter:
“Holy s**t and then he has the audacity to say what he did. Alicia sue him for 200 million dollars,”
“Absolutely disgusting. She did not deserve this and her face says it all at the end.”
