Shannen Doherty, best known for her roles in “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed,” has opened up about her ongoing battle with stage 4 cancer, expressing hope to live for another three to five years. The 52-year-old actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and, despite going into remission in 2017, faced a recurrence in 2019, leading to a metastatic stage four diagnosis in 2020.

In a recent episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear,” Doherty discussed her goals and hopes for future treatment with her oncologist, Dr. Lawrence Piro. She shared her aspiration to extend her life by a few more years, hoping that advancements in cancer treatment, such as T-cell therapy, will provide new options. “There’s going to be a lot more options that will give another five years. Then in those five years, there’s a whole other group of options, and eventually, there’s going to be a cure,” Doherty said.

Doherty’s journey with cancer has been challenging. After her initial diagnosis, she underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. In June 2023, she updated her followers on social media, revealing that the cancer had spread to her brain, and she had undergone surgery five months earlier to remove a tumor.

Reflecting on her situation, Doherty remains determined and hopeful. “I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not – I’m not done,” she told People in an interview.

The actress’s candidness about her health struggles has been an inspiration to many. Her positive outlook and determination to keep fighting are evident in her words and actions. Doherty’s story highlights the importance of hope and resilience in the face of life’s most challenging battles.
