There will be No Amber Heard and Johnny Depp Trial this Week

The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial has absorbed the world, but it has been put on pause for a week.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife began due to an op-ed Heard penned in The Washington Post in 2018 claiming she was a victim of domestic abuse.

The trial started April 11 and has become more dramatic with each passing day. However, journalists and fans that have been eagerly watching things unfold have a week off, as proceedings are on hold.

To quell any speculation first off, the break isn’t related to anything in the trial. Fairfax County Circuit Judge, Penney Azcarate, is said to have a previous engagement this week until Thursday 12 May, as cited by Metro.

As a result of this, proceedings will resume on Monday 16 May, where Heard will continue with her testimony and face cross-examination from Depp’s legal team.

There is no estimate for when a verdict will be provided but the closing arguments are planned for 27 May.
