When Will There Be a Verdict in Johnny Depp’s Trial Against Amber Heard?

The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial has just finished its fourth week and you may be wondering when there will be a verdict…

Depp sued his ex-wife for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote in 2018 in The Washington Post about being abused. The actor was not named, however, he claims that these allegations have negatively impacted his reputation and his career.

The actress then countersued Depp for $100 million, accusing the 58-year-old of creating a “smear campaign” against her.

The trial began on 11 April in Fairfax, Virgina. Watch below:

So far, the televised trial has shocked the public, shining a light on many gruesome parts of the couple’s tumultuous relationship.

The trial has been put on pause this week, but will resume Monday 16 May.

Before the court closed for the day on 5 May, Judge Penney Azcarate told the jurors that the closing arguments from both sides will take place on 27 May.

Prior to that, the actress’ legal team will conclude presenting their defence and Depp’s legal team will have their opportunity to offer a rebuttal.

Azcarate indicated that the jury deliberations will start as soon as closing arguments are completed on 27 May. However, it is impossible to say how long the jury’s deliberations will take, given the amount of evidence they have to sift through.
