Ellen Barkin is testifying at Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s trial next week and here’s why…
This week, the trial that has us all gripped to our screens has been put on pause but will resume on Monday May 16 and we will see a familiar face on the stand, actress Ellen Barkin.
Barkin dated Depp in the late 1990s after the pair met on the set of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
The Emmy winner was also called to testify at the 2020 libel lawsuit where the Pirates of the Caribbean sued The Sun for labelling him a “wife beater” after Heard’s allegations.
At this trial, the 68-year-old claimed Depp once threw a wine bottle across a hotel room while the couple were in an argument. Depp denied this, claiming the actress made up the whole thing because she held a “grudge” against him as he had only wanted a casual relationship with her.
As reported by The Daily Mail, the actor told the courtroom at the time:
“A sexual element began with Ms. Barkin which lasted for months on and off, really because she was making the film I was making at the time, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,”
“She wanted a proper relationship with me and I did not want that. I didn’t feel the same about her as she did me and I suppose from that moment on she became very, very angry and since then I have not spoken to Ms. Barkin.”
I wonder what she’ll have to say in court, this time…
