Zelensky Quotes MLK in Heartbreaking Speech to Congress

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky gave a heartfelt speech to Congress begging Joe Biden and America to do more to help his country in this time of war.

Zelensky played a devastating video montage to Congress showing the impact Vladimir Putin’s invasion has had on the people of Ukraine and the country itself.

In his speech, he invoked U.S. tragedies, claiming that Ukraine is going through 9/11 and Pearl Harbour every day and urged the states to protect his skies.

He said:

‘I am addressing the President Biden. You are the leader of the nation, of your great nation. I wish you be the leader of the world. Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace,’

‘Russia has turned the Ukrainian sky into a source of death for thousands of people’

‘is this a lot to ask for? to create a no-fly zone over ukraine to save people. is this too much to ask?’

Zelensky also called for a new alliance outside of NATO, preventing future attacks and took inspiration from the civil rights leader MLK by saying:

‘i have a dream…i have a need. i need to protect our sky. i need your decision…exactly the same you feel when you say ‘i have a dream.’

Our hearts break for the Ukrainian people.
